Well, four down, two to go - I feel like I've really broken the back of this treatment now.
The treatment itself was fine - this time my nurse was super speedy David from Swansea who was in and out in 2 hours, although I have to admit to hoping that the winds would prevent him getting across the Severn Bridge at all. My veins seemed to be more cooperative than usual but sadly, the new (and more expensive) anti-sickness drug only served to delay the sickness by a couple of hours - Dr B might as well put me back on the cheap one and save somebody some money!!
So, I'm feeling much the same as normal at this time - tired, groggy, nauseous, sore arm, achy body and problems with pink liquids (same colour as the epirubicin) - this treatment doesn't have side effects, it has full on in the face effects. Having said that I do feel a bit brighter today but then I'm still on my steroids high. The Edinburgh support team have sent Anna, my sister, to take the strain this time and she's doing a fab job as usual, in particular saving me some money by allowing me to have my regular post-treatment retail therapy by proxy this time as she did some serious damage in Fat Face yesterday!! She is also setting up a collection of ipods that she, Ed and I have recently received for various birthdays and Christmas - this task has been made easier by the fantastically-timed arrival of a CD from Sue with half her friend's music collection on it!! Our fabulous food parcel from Margot duly arrived too, filling up the space in the freezer left by the cold caps.
Martin has taken the opportunity of Anna's visit to go to Newcastle v West Ham with Shane (The Conductor & Newcastle fan) and Max (age 9 & West Ham fan). Poor old Max had no idea what was going on until they were on the plane - they'd told him that they were going to the airport to collect some boxes!! Anyway, as the score stands now, looks like he might have the last laugh!
Iona has had an incident-packed week - on Tuesday she and Martin were walking to school and a chap working at a house opposite fell off his ladder with shouts, thuds and breaking of glass and then on Thursday a huge tree blew down in the school playground, smashing through the wall and school gates. She seems to have come through unscathed but an afternoon's play with best mate Orla is just what she needed and super child psychologist Hannah (soon to be starring on C4) can check her out for post traumatic stress while she's there!!
That's all from me - hope you're all enjoying a much better weekend.
Love Vicky xx

Hi Vicky!
I have just been reading your blog and I thought I'd drop you a quick message of cheer and say hello! I am working today (down-side of retail) although I have had some fun this morning and have been playing golf on the Wii in the shopping centre, who are promoting this weekend (and yes, it is as good as everyone is making out!)
When you are feeling up for another girly night-in just let me know and I will be there with bells on! It is mine and Rob's anniversary next week and I thought it would be fun to book us into Thermae Bath Spa for a few hours of treatments, however I am most disappointed as they are fully booked until April 07! Never mind, we will just have to save the experience for another special occasion! Love to Iona and Martin and I look forward to seeing you soon! Danielle :)
Hi Vicky
Can we all lobby for David to come back for the last 2 treatments?! There must be enough on the bus to apply some pressure where needed...
Hope you feel better soon, and the good news from Dr B last week gets you through the last 2 sets of treatment, along with some rowdy bus support. We're all cheering for you, Martin and Iona. (Should we be cheering fo Newcastle as well now!)
Love Ali xxx
Hi Vicky,
So pleased to hear that it is over and done with, and that you're beginning to feel on the right side of the 'in-the-face' effects now! Glad your veins coped better but sorry to hear the wonder-drug wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
I'll second Ali's nomination for more David for the next two treatments!
Love,
Karen x
Hi Vicky from sunny and blustery Jersey. So sorry that i havent logged on for what seems like an age, but it is great to read that you are sounding like you are in high spirits and battling on...definitely dont recommend a trip to Jersey at the moment as the wind is putting everything where it shouldn't be so who knows where it would leave your hair! All well here, job number 3 since my move home is keeping me really busy which is good... take care and keep this bendy bus on the straight and narrow!
Lots of love Fluffx
Hi Vicky!
A message from the cold & windy Netherlands! I arrived safely in Amsterdam after a bumpy flight on Saturday morning. It is weird not being at DB today and I'm really missing all of you! I hope that you are feeling better now after the weekend! Hope to hearing from you soon!
Love, Sanne
Hi there Vicky! Good to hear you're managing to remain chirpy in the face of your side-effects-sorry the drugs didn't live up to expectations, but let's hear it for the retail therapy! Surely a case for making it available on the NHS! My latest trip to retail land resulted in a load of stuff that had to be taken back (I was temporarily blinded by sale madness- it looked c*@p when I got it home!) as well as some vital princess-related kit for the girls (does this phase ever end?)
Anyway,I hope you and your princess are doing fine now, and look forward to hearing the news that all the treatments are behind you.Not long now!
Much love
Vanessa

Hi Vicky and Martin,
You are doing so well. The lost property is cheering you on from down the back of the bus.
From what I have learned recently, you don't sidle up to cancer and gently knock it over. It's a big, fat, nasty bully and the best way to handle it is to square up to it and fight back. So your bravery and your full on in the face effects stand you in good stead.
I was so excited when I read you are not terminally ill that I whooped for joy at my computer. (Or whatever the modern equivalent would be. I bet bloggers don't whoop)
Keep it up. You are doing so well and it's always great to read your very honest and funny posts.
Helen, Quentin and Oakley.
Hi, hon! Claire sent me the link and I've been avidly catching up. What a relief that the doc's prognosis is so positive! You're doing amazingly well. Big hugs from an old friend, Charlotte xx
Hi Vicky
Hope the last blast of chemo is a distant memory now and you are on the uphill side of this phase?
Loved the photo in the last blog (I'm a bit behind) - lucky you that you can 'do' hats. Lots of people (like me) just look plain silly in them.
Meant to say how great it was to hear from Martin at the beginning of the month. He sounds like a great bloke (as we all knew he would be) - can't wait to meet him when you all come down under next year. See, you only have to mention it briefly in a Christmas card and it's in my diary.
Take care of yourselves and keep on with the positive vibes. We're sending them from Aus too.
Lots of love

Hi Vicky,
I'm certainly getting a bit crumbly these days...I managed to post my message twice by accident on my last visit to your blog and I even managed to book my flight to Bristol in the wrong month ! However, not to fear, I've managed to change my flight and I'll try and post this message only once.
Only two more treatments left Vicky. You're doing brilliantly and I'm so excited about coming to see you. Speak soon.
Love and hugs,
Barney
Hi You
Fantastic to hear Dr B's report and hope the effects of the chemo are starting to wear off now and you are feeling more the old you.
Spoke to Cath the other week and she was going to give you a call once you were over the worst to see if we could find a convenient Friday to come and see you prior to Jnr arriving - my last day at work is the 16th Feb, so not sure how this fits in with your treatment.
All well here although the commute is getting rather tiring. Have just been to our first ante-natal class and both came away on Tuesday amazed at how little some of our group know. Also trying to get our heads round all the paraphernalia that babies seem to need! Other than that same old same old.
Take care and let's keep that bus moving.
With much love
Liz xx
