Is it nearly three weeks already? Time flies...and I can assure you I haven't been enjoying myself that much! I've not really had my good days this time as I've had a cold and sinusitis (of course my original diagnosis was a brain tumour!!) non-stop since my last treatment. Hopefully it won't affect my blood tests tomorrow as there can only be one thing worse than chemotherapy and that's not having it when you are preparing for it!! Dr Braybrooke thinks I should be ok though. We saw him today - we now won't see him again until after my scans in April - and I made him promise that when he gets the scan results he'll tell me it as it is!
I'm starting to feel quite euphoric about reaching the end of this particular road - there's just one small block in the way - and that's Thursday - but I've got Ursula again which is great and it's got to be better than last time. Martin and I are braving student night at Jesters Comedy Club tomorrow night in an effort to stave off the pre-treatment nerves.
We had a lovely trip to Dartmouth at the end of last week - three days in a quirky, little cottage, lots of pottering and a brand new Fat Face shop!! I even indulged in a few lattes and the odd glass of wine - bliss!! It did us all loads of good and so we came home and booked a weekend break to London (adults only!!) and cheapo flights to Croatia at the end of May. Abigail quite rightly pointed out last night that it was ridiculous to have booked a place in the half marathon in September and no summer holiday...so I hope this goes some way to address my misplaced priorities!!
My lovely friend Sue drove all the way from St Albans today to spend three hours with me - she is a lady who likes to lunch but, seriously, it's things like that that have helped me through these last four months. Thanks to you all.
So to Thursday and the end of this road..and a month of blissful ignorance.
Love Vicky x

Hi Vicky, feel as though I have been out of touch with half term and me now on my 6 week course so Georgia in breakfast club and after school club our paths are not crossing. So good to to hear all your news, Dartmouth sounds like it was a well deserved mini break and roll on adult only London trip! Fingers crossed that you are well enough to get the final "session" over and done with on Thursday. You are truely inspiring and totally amazing and my thoughts are often with you. If there is anything that I can do to help with any of this, please please call me. Lots of love Trish
Dear Vicky
Re your posting :
"Abigail quite rightly pointed out last night that it was ridiculous to have booked a place in the half marathon in September and no summer holiday"..
I cant believe you have exposed me as the blunt, not very touchy feely, 'spade's a spade' sort of girl that I clearly am, but was trying to hide from the other passengers on this bus in case they don't talk to me.
Any way its a slight mis representation of my actual thoughts on the matter. Clearly its quite ridiculous for anyone to run a half marathon, full stop. The summer holiday stuff was just to soften the blow.
I know you have people keen to train and run it with you. I would like to offer my services as the 'eating for energy' adviser. I am very good at this, although must admit that most of mine remains stored for future use. I will also be happy to arrange post marathon celebrations.
Good to see you and hope you get your good week back this time
Love to all

Hi Vicky,
Well, if you were running the half marathon now, you'd be passed the 13 miles sign, passed the 20k sign, passed the 200m to go sign and ready for that feeling of 'it's over'! Much respect to entering the Bristol half! I hope you have some good days over the next month and then fingers crossed for the scans.
Glad to hear you had a nice break away and that you've got more planned - always positive!
Hopefully we'll see you when you're next in Edin.
love, Emma and Ian
As I write chemo 6 should be over - hurrah. Well done you, you have been brilliant and a real inspiration. Hope you've made space in the freezer for tomorrow - put on your best pyjamas! We will drink a toast for you tomorrow night (at least I will, John is off skiing in Meribel - alright for some...)please drink a toast from us with Martin and your Mum tomorrow (and a sip for Iona). Let your hair down - the cold caps have allowed you that! Really looking forward to talking on the phone.
Lots of love, hugs and generally brilliant feelings to you. You're a star.

Well done Vicky ! By the time you read this the treatment will be behind you and you can look forward to a all your well earned treats and holidays. Can't wait to see you !
Love Barney.
Hooray hooray, the final one is over! Thought I'd drop you a line as I won't see you next week - hope you aren't feeling too bad today and that the hypnotic power of Paul McKenna and all those waves helped you breeze through the treatment.
All this talk of Bristol Half Marathon is enough to make me feel queasy. It's even making the microsites seem strangely appealing! I am however, looking forward to exposing my ample bosom to the Bristol masses on the bra walk, and I promise not to collapse at the 10 mile zombie zone.

Hope it wasn't too bad and you remembered to 'focus on the fairy dust, focus on the fairy dust'. You probably hate those f***king fairies now. I'd send you chocolates to celebrate but you'd probably prefer an antiemetic and they didn't stock them in Thorntons.

Hi Vicky
Dropped in to see you hoping to hear from a post 6 session celebration! Hope you are coming out of the fog and are looking forward to happier days.
All still cold and very very very snowy in Canada!
