Right guys, guest editor while big vicks is slightly indisposed up St Michaels Hill. This is coming from Grove Road where Martin and I are having the odd Groslsh (spelling boy - that's a hundred lines) or two whilst contemplating the price of bread and why Newcastle did so badly against Derby on Monday. Vicks having the works thrown at her, IV fluids, Cef and Met antibiotics and even some granulocyte stimulating growth factor - (pretty pricey) to make her white cells perk up a bit. Vicks is likley to be in the oncology centre until at least early next week. Plenty of support in the offing, Joan is in Bristol, Jac has just moved into the office next door to the ward, Anna on the way down and we had a call from Abs tonight and she is planning a stealth visit early next week. Big Martin doing well, though the state of his bowels after tonight's super chilli may affect the coming week.
Congratulations to Hannah, the good news is that she managed to smuggle a very handy salad into Vicks to supplement her meagre rations, and, on top of that a big pillow. The slightly unfortunate news is that Hannah's car was CCTV'ed in a consultant's parking space and the security team are on her tail (plus the entire UBHT consultant community).
Big thanks to Sarah who popped in earlier today and found Vicks sleeping. Some of you may not know but S edit the hit BBC series "who do you think you are?" mag. I think the answer you were looking for is "Vicky Weir" and she comes from Scotland (though she does have a lot of Sassernach blood in her these days).
Martin has v kindly bought V 3 pairs of pyjamas on the basis that at least 2 pairs would be unacceptable.
Anyway, looks like results imminent so will keep you all posted.
OK, got to go now, Jacqui back and unable to write without censorship - will keep you all posted on irregular basis - lots of love (lets hope I remember the passwords) Shane Martin and Jacqui

Thankyou for keeping the blog going. We need it you know. Thanks Shane and Jacqui for keeping Martin going too - go easy on the Grolsch boys !
Can one of you give Vicky a massive hug from me. Please don't forget. Please tell her that I'm thinking of her. I'm sure this is just a temporary set back and our precious Vicky'll be back on her feet soon.
Love to you all,
Sarah (the one from Milan!)
Hi guys,

Hi Vicky, Martin, Iona, Jacqui, Shane, Joan, Anna, Hannah and...... You are all doing an amazing job in Bristol giving Vicky so much love and support. My thoughts are with you all. Please also one or all of you give Vicky a big hug from me. The Weybridge crowd (Margot, John, Rowan, Ceara and Lochlan) are all looking forward to you making an excellent recovery, Vicky so we can see you very soon. I was also tempted to squeeze in a quick visit but I hope that the parcel on its way gives you a bit of a lift instead.
John was speaking to Gez yesterday and he passes on his very best wishes to you too.
Thinking about you every day Vicky. I will phone again very soon for a chat. Lots of love to you and your family and a very big thank you again to all the Bristol support crowd.

Hi Vicky
So sorry to hear you are laid flat in hospital. Hope all the potions will soon begin to make you feel better and able to get home again. It sounds like you are being well looked after all round as usual - what wonderful friends you have.
Hope you will be well enough for your DB bash on Friday next.
lots of love Priscilla xx

Sending lots of love to you all. I'll try and pop over next week sometime. Hello Vicky, Bristol Clipper girl. Wishing you the strength, energy and power to get through these difficult days. I think about you and Iona a lot. Keep fighting Vicky, you have some fantastic support.
Un abrazo muy fuerte. Besos Elizabeth
Well done guys for taking on blogging duty for Vicky-give her a hug from us up North-we could send some wbcs would she prefer canine or feline? Loads of love Vicki,Laurence,Lucia and Oscar xxxx
We have been away on holiday and I was shocked to read the last few entries.
We are thinking of you, wishing you ALL well, amazed by your strength etc - it's all been said before..
The last time I saw Iona she was a baby and now she is the most beautiful, beautiful 6 year old. I know she is being so well looked after by family and friends, but it still brings a lump to my throat thinking of her coping with all this..
which brings me to 2 points and I hope fellow bus riders don't mind my posting them..in the hope they might provide some practical help.
1. There is a great book called "What can i do to help?" by Deborah Hutton. I am pretty sure Vicky has read it and got the idea of blogging from it. It is full of really practical ideas for those desperate to help (yet not knowing what to do). It is short and well / humorously written. I really recommend it. (see Amazon for more details)
2. This may sound weird and may not be welcome, but Quent's fortunes seemed to change when someone had a mass read(is that the term?) for him. The idea grew into a general day of prayer for him. We are not a religious couple - in fact Quent would probably be classed as an atheist- but I swear things have looked up ever since. If there are people of faith on the bus, maybe Tues would be a good day for extra focused prayers and candles for Vicky, Iona and Martin.
thinking of you all and hoping so much for good news on Tues.
Helen, Quent and Oakley
Hi All,
Please give Vicky all our love and strength. You're all in our thoughts constantly and thanks for keeping up the blogs.
Much love from us all in Oz!

Hi everyone and fellow bloggers
Sending lots of positive thoughts and love to you all.
Vicky - thinking of you and praying for positive results on Tuesday.
I know it's completely different but Ellie's neutrophil counts regularly dip below 1 - lowest recorded was at 0.01 and they pick up again after about two weeks or so. What we have to watch for is any temperatures when they're low. But you're in the best place. Hope food not as appalling as in Childrens Hospital.
Martin -
On the carparking nightmare that is oncology, if you have a Blue Badge you can park on double yellow lines on the road next to the car park. You can get a Blue Badge automatically if you have the higher rate of DLA. Just ring the council. May help with the needless stress of getting Vicky to and fro and for visiting her.
Helen - of Helen and Quent -
Thanks for your day of prayer idea, and book recommendation - I'm not religious either but I will mediatate that day. And let us know how Quent is doing.
Love Grace x
Hi to the new editorial team.
Stealth visit brought forward by unexpected offer of childcare.
Am pleased to report to bloggers that both Vicky and the pyjamas bought by Martin were better than I expected.
Love and Hugs to you all
Abigail
Just back from a week's holiday and all this happens - blimey! Glad to hear from Abigail's post that 'big V' was better than she expected. And the peerless efforts of the new editorial team (good to hear from those who experience all this day by day with Vicky) and friends who run the gauntlet of hospital parking to keep our beautiful V going is inspiring as ever. Give her a hug from us.
Angie, Jon and Liam xxxx

Hi Vicky, Martin, Iona
Thanks so much Shane and co. for giving us bloggers our regular update-fix - it's really appreciated.
Vicks I'm glad to hear they're throwing lots of NHS money at you. We all know it's because you're worth it!
As a definite 'religious' one, I will be concentrating very hard on positive prayer tomorrow - it will actually be much easier than usual for me as I am on a work awayday!
You don't know this but I asked the prayer group at Cotham Parish Church to pray for you a long, long time ago. I will try and get you refreshed on their system before tomorrow too!!
Well done to all those who braved BHOC car park I know what a nightmare it is.
Anyway Sarah W tells me you are back out of that hell hole now and feeling a lot better so it was really great to hear this.
Lots of love - hope we'll get that lunch out sorted one day soon..
Waf X
Hi All
Thanks for the update, and appendages are still all crossed for good news tomorrow.
Am of the non-religious variety but having aptly been given a beautiful candle from The Pier for my 30th this w/e, proceeds of which all go to support breast cancer, I will be lighting it and both thinking and sending positive thoughts tomorrow.
Mum has her church group in Portugal on the case once again.
All my love and hugs to the massive team of support and especially to the team captain herself.
And not that anyone could ever need reminding of what a truly unique, amazing and kind person Vicky is, I even had a text on Saturday from Vicky who despite hospital, drugs, bad food and thin pillows remebered this and sent a message to wish me a great night.
Zo, Mat and Bump xxxxxxxxx
Vicky, that's wonderful news. Let the sun bathe you in its healing balm. Enjoy every second.
