Coming back to life...!

Well, I can honestly say that I've been out of it for the last couple of weeks - it has been an effort to do anything...so I've done nothing!! Fortunately, Mum was here and then Anna came down and took over. My main concern is that I haven't set foot in Iona's bedroom for nearly two weeks and I am dreading what awaits me!

Anna came with me to my work retirement party on Friday lunchtime. Through the week I was really worried whether I would make it there at all but I did...just...and it was a lovely occasion. My boss said a few words, the Chair of the Board said a few words and I said a few words and everyone just about kept their emotions in check. Can't say the same for my nausea and I did have to make a quick dash for the loos!!! Smart Hotel du Vin loos - could be worse!!

My colleagues have been fantastically generous and we now have a voucher for a family photography session and, suffice to say, you will soon be seeing me in an all new Fat Face winter wardrobe!! They also put together a hilarious scrap book with all sorts of embarrassing photos and anecdotes - I do wonder if I stayed there too long!!

So, I've now left work - in fact, today is the first day of my retirement. Sadly, it's a bit wet for gardening!

I've been waiting to see how I felt before deciding on whether to start my MMM treatment tomorrow but I've decided to go for it and get started. I'll let you know how it goes.

Dear Vick,

Sounds like you're feeling a bit better. Maybe stay out of Iona's bedroom - might make you feel worse again!

Glad to hear your leaving do was ok and that you left your mark.....in the Hotel du Vin as well!

Re. emotions, decided it was a good job I wasn't there - I'd have been an embarrasment!

Good luck for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. Maybe see you next week instead?

Lots of love, Judy xxxx

Great to hear that you're coming out the other side of such a horrid spell and that you managed to get to, and enjoy, your leaving do. Don't overdo it now though - keep building up your strength for the next bodily onslaught - good luck with that and have fun choosing your new wardrobe.

Hi Vicky,
Happy to hear you're feeling that bit better. I know its not like you to miss a party but it must have been a tremendous effort to get to your retirement do! Sounds like it was worth it though.
Good luck with tomorrows treatment, we'll be thinking of you.
All my love Allisonxxx

Hi Vicky,
that is so you-the 'go for it' attitude- it shows just what a gutsy lady you are. Wishing you good luck with the MMM tomorrow, we'll be keeping everything crossed. And, most importantly, HAPPY SHOPPING!

Hi Vicky
Glad to catch up after a few weeks absence due to a long awaited holiday in North America!Well - what can we say - a retired lady indeed - and when do you think you will ever take a sedatery slant on life! You always have that wonderful attitude of - `lets get on with it` or `let`s have a go!` Remarkable for someone who has been through so much and still come out stronger than ever. This old bus is certainly taking you down some thoroughly nasty routes - which makes the nicer routes well worth waiting for. The next strange detour on this route - Iona`s room I expect - but you have to remember yourself at her age - Hmmm -Yes = exactly!
Can`t wait to see the family photo- I am sure you will have lots of fun at the studio -
Never mind the garden - get some shopping done instead!!
Much love as always -
Your Friends in the North

Hi all
Good luck tomorrow. I am not working so I'm around.
Lovely to see you up and about and shopping on Sat. Iona and Orla had a lovely play ... Rory just followed Iona round - I think it is true love on his part at least!
Lots of love

Dear Vicky,

Sounds like a great do on Friday, looking forward to seeing the family pictures on line.

Talking of online, all the 'fat face' blogging has finally sent me to the online site! I can see how an addicition could quite easily be formed but alas, no overseas shops or mailing!

Will be sending lots of positive vibes for the new medication,

Love Ali xxxx

Hi Vicky,

Its been a while since we have been on the bus.

Good luck tomorrow!

Do not worry about Iona's bedroom, thats why you have Martin!!!!!!
Send him in first.

Mind you he might make it worse!

Hope to bring William to Bristol soon to watch the mighty City play
He is still their number 1 fan, but he is still only 4 and does not know how bad we really are.

hope to see you soon

Love

Hi

Glad you liked the book, it was great fun putting it all together. I still can't stop laughing when I think of Mich's 'microsites for all'!

I think I failed a bit on the remaining unemotional side - I blame the red wine at lunchtime!

Hope to see you soon,
Love Emma xx

Hi Vicky, Your leaving party sounded wonderful and if you are going to have to decorate a loo, Hotel du Vin would be my choice!! good luck for the new treatment, give Iona's room a miss. You will need your strength elsewhere I feel!!!

Hi Vicky

I'm glad you enjoyed the party. Hope Tuesday was OK.

Rebecca and Archie received Iona's Thankyou letter today. We are not usually ones for saying thankyou for your thankyou letter. However, Rebecca was particularly impressed with Iona's very neat writing, and specifically asked me to "put that on the computer mail"

This post is really just to remind you that we are still on this bus. We are not always that keen on the route, but we like the people and will be staying.

Lots of Love (and to Martin and Iona)
Abigail, Angus, Becca and Archie

Hi Vicky,
Glad to hear that you have resurfaced after that particularly bad spell. I have been keeping constant watch on things through Helen (S.port) She was so worried about you being worred about Friday. (does that make sense) Often work has been neglected because we have been nattering about you, hope you don't mind! How bad can a five year old's bedroom really be? It surely can't be worse than two teenage boys!! Anyway, remember if you feel unable to keep your spirits up there are plenty out there who are happy to step inn til you are able. Take care, Sue (Wirral)

Dearest Vicky,
Just a line to say hello. Hope you got my letter. Good to speak to your Mum on the phone. She was telling me all about Frankie's antics - what does the cat say to that ?
Hope your medication is not giving you any nasty side effects. Get out there shopping and have fun. We'd all love to see some new photos on the blog. Tell Iona I want to see a piccy of the cat.
Love to all three.
Sarah B. Milano.

P.S. Did you see the Varnica three in their smart school uniforms ? My child looks like a gypsy by the time she gets home!
