I've been a bit slack on the old blog recently - I guess not much has changed and things are taking on a familiar routine - crap week followed by good week and then apprehensive week!! I've been busy at work too - funny to think that I'm still officially on sick leave.
Tomorrow, I'm off to the Penny Brohn Centre (was the Bristol Cancer Help Centre) for two days to learn all about alternative therapies for dealing with cancer - I know that I am going to get alot out of it but I am very anxious about thinking about my cancer for two days. Anyway, it's all about massage, healing, imagery, nutrition and relaxation so should be good - even if it's not for me at the moment, it's good to know what's out there. They're quite strict on the diet front - no sugar, salt, coffee or dairy..but if it all gets too much, Angie and Jon live about two minutes away...so if you're reading this..please be on standby!! You never know, I might decide to ditch the chemo and go for deep breathing and healing stones in the bra instead!
I've got to leave a bit early on Tuesday to make sure I get to my appointment with Dr Braybrooke - I could have given it a miss this time but it's always quite therapeutic seeing him and I've got to tell him that his expensive anti-sickness drugs were rubbish!
Tonight though is party night - we're off to Helen's 40th birthday Casino Party (for those of you who like to piece it all together, that's Bristol Helen who I met at a VSO party about 5 years ago and then again in the Colston's School playground!). Of course I had nothing to wear so I dragged Martin and Iona out this morning and squeezed myself into the got to have, half price in the sale, only one left but a size too small top! I realised why loads of them had broken zips! In fact got to go and follow other Helen's (that's VSO Helen who lives in Southport) 5-point getting ready plan for feeling great for that big night out!
One last thing - Anna has pointed out to me the Sun Walk in Bristol on July 8th - a power walking half marathon to raise money for breast cancer charities. Anna's going to do the equivalent Half Moon Walk in Edinburgh in June but if any of you girls fancy getting your pink bras on and doing the Sun Walk with me, let me know.
Lots of love to you all.
Vicky xx

Hey Vicky
Hope your course was 'cleansing and calming' and has not sent you screaming for Starbucks double expresso with a extra choc brownie on the side.
Looking forward to seeing Iona - and protecting her from a Sat afternoon at Ashton Gate!
Been thinking of you going on the course today. Around all week.
Much love
Hannah
Hi Vicky,
Hope you left the course with a few ideas that might help you - fight this thing on all fronts, I say - I suspect the occasional partying and new top form of alternative therapy is just as helpful!
We are all thinking of you lots and willing you through these last couple of treatments. That glimmer at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and becoming a reality.
love, as always

Glad to hear your social life is still a whirl - I didn't even manage a party for my own 40th so you are doing really well out gallavanting at nights. What stamina! I couldn't power walk to the boulangerie and back, never mind a half marathon. And I don't possess a pink bra.
Will be thinking of you this week and look forward to our flying visit next month. Not sure what gorgeous foodstuffs or beverages I can bring you from France, you'll have to give us some tips after your course.
Take care, love to Iona & Martin too

Hi Vicky,
Following on from Claire's note, you'll also have to prepare your Italian goodies list.
As for the half marathon I really have become pathetic and probably wouldn't even complete a quarter of a marathon. Tennis is about as far as it goes these days and even then most of the balls end up in the car park.
I hope you found the course interesting and is going to be of help. It's a shame they're so strict on the diet thing though. I'm sure you can "cheat" a little bit.
Hang on in there Vicky. You sounded a wee bit tired in this last blog. I'm sure you are knackered in every sense but please keep positive. We're all thinking of you and yes I've finally been contaminated by the other bloggers and have to say I'm sending you my positive vibes! There you go.
TONS OF LOVE !
Barney.
Hi Vicky- if you can do it, then I can too- so count me in for the walk. Argh! -cant believe I said that, but there's no going back. Let me know who I need to contact to get into training etc. By the way, my idea of training does involve chocolate brownies and other sugar highs. Not bad for a trainee nutritionist!
Lots of love from the Francesconis!

Hi Vicky
If the dairy is out, and you fancy a chocolate fix I recommend Green and Blacks. Most of the packs that I have read are dairy free as they use cocoa butter and not milk fats. Sill got sugar though.... but loads less than average. I hope that the course was helpful and that its given you some constructive information.
Is the half marathon a mixed or women only event?
Hope that Iona and Martin are well.
Loadsa Love

Hi Vicky
The course sounds good - I imagine there were some good tips in there for all of us - do share the more interesting ones.
The power walk sounds interesting -I'm very tempted. Any other Colston's mums thinking about doing it? It could be a laugh and would be a great fitness project(as well of course as raising money for such a good cause!) I'd need a training partner who is equally unfit (Although I can't picture any of you falling into that category). Any potential takers? Please tell me though that I don't have to wear nothing but a pink bra on top - that would most definately be a show stopper.
Good luck tomorrow Vicky and speedy recovery from all the nasty side effects. You're nearly through the course - just think, only one more to go after this one. Thinking of you.

Hi Vicky,
Just checked out the Walk the Walk website to find out more about the Sun Walk. It looks as though men do join in these events. Now, the thought of Andy and Martin in pink bras....I'll be traumatised for days. Can't wait for you to let me know it's all over and done with tomorrow and then there's only one to go - phew.
Loads of love,
Helen
P.S. Hope the feel fab five point plan worked on Saturday
Good luck Vicky. You are in my thoughts much of the time at the moment. Thursday, 11.40am so I guess you must be just about through this treatment. Just the recovery to go. I am hoping that you will get your favourit delivery man tomorrow. Will talk with you over the weekend. I'm sending lots of love and positive vibes your way.
Margot
Hi Vicky,
Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Bristol Cancer Care place. Have thought about booking Quent in so it will be great to hear what you think. Please email me if you get the chance. I agree with your friend who said try everything - from treats to stones in strange places.
You sound to be doing so well - working through all your treatment. Amazing.
love
Helen, Quent and Oakley
